Are you ready to learn the fundamentals of space planning and design like a pro? Join us for an engaging workshop tailored for beginners, where you will be guided through the essential principles of creating functional and harmonious spaces that optimise every inch of your home.

This half-day workshop is very hands-on and practical. Space planning is the crucial first step in the design process. Many people mistakenly think that they should start with colours, styles, furniture, lighting and floor finish choices. Sorry, wrong! Space planning involves maximizing the functionality of a physical area and that the activities, foot traffic, and how people will circulate throughout the room are all taken into consideration.

You are welcome to work on your own rooms if your wish. Just bring along the room measurements and some photos or architectural floor plans if you have them.

What to expect:

Understanding Your Space: Learn how to analyse and assess different areas within your home, from kitchens, living rooms to bedrooms, and identify opportunities for improvement. Don’t waste your money again on buying that sofa that is either too big or small for the room!

Mastering Spatial Layouts: Discover the art of arranging furniture, defining traffic flow, and maximizing space efficiency to create rooms that feel spacious and inviting. Industry standards are also crucial to ensure that they are adhered to, to make the space comfortable and safe. Standard furniture sizes are examined to make sure you pick the right size for the right space.

Creating Floor : Get hands-on experience with drafting floor plans, measuring spaces, and sketching layouts using simple tools and techniques. You will be introduced to 1:20, 1:50 and 1:100 scales. Templates and furniture plan stencils will also be used so there is no need to worry about your drawing ability.

Designing with Purpose: Explore the relationship between form and function ,and learn how to balance aesthetics with practicality to meet your unique lifestyle needs.
